i had to reply, because yesterday i had a tough time with volkare sitting on a lake directly adjacent to "my" city and only drawing wounds until the last turn of the last night, so i was about to accept i had lost - but volkare attacked on his last chance and i was able to sweep his whole army with one great combo and did not recieve any wounds in combat!!!Luckily for me he got the position before me in round order, so i was able to fully attend the combat and i had just enough cards to discard each round to get to that point and still keep my best.
i don't have the game at hand so i have to rely on my mind and try toremember what happened - so i hope i get it right :)
The key to success was the AA-card blood sacrifice (i think that is the name), which gave me three crystals of my choice in trade for one wound - including black mana (there was 3 x red, 1 white and 1x gold in the pool!) which was important as i had 3 of my 4 spells ready.
The Motivation-skill was quite handy, too (besides one more mana i got more cards, because i could start with 10 cards: 6 cards hand limit + 2 for the city + 2 from motivation)
So this is what i remeber (sorry for missing details - just a quick summary. i tried to remember the correct names, too):
I had some of the northern units that gave block 3 against volkares black attack.
I used expose (Ranged attack 2, fortifications ignored) against one catapult
Tovaks skill that increases block +3 together with the powered new basic card for Tovak that gives block 4 was enough to block the second catapult. Attack 2 from a normal rage took care of that enemy.
The illusionists white speciality "target enemy does not attack" blocked an ice dragon and the cold fire attack from my heroes killed it (as i was attacked, i did not need to pay influence to my heroes).
(maybe i added 2 more attack from another unit!?)
Powered cold toughness blocked a grey enemy and a Powered rage + the returned coop-skill that gives+4 when using a special mana (red in this case) took care of that.
And then there was only one more grey enemy that volkare recrutet on the way - i think i killed it with the familiars (they had red mana this round). This was also blocked - although i can't remember what i used, but i think it involved mana draw plus another Spell!?
Hope this makes sense :)
