I also haven't found player aids to be a necessity. If you don't remember the majority of the rules, even with an aid, you'll have to spend significant amounts of time looking things up, and will probably miss things. What seems to be working ok for me is to play my first games carefully and try to look things up even if I have the slightest doubt about the rule. These games take longer, but I think it will pay off in the long run. Granted, this would only work for solitaire or a 2 player game.As for the OP, I think laying out all location cards would be a waste of table space, given how much the game already takes up. I would also recommend printing them all out on a single sheet.
